Which Wood Trim Edging to Use
and How To Use Them?
Cor! Are you feeling the winter blues like us over here at the Camilla Hampton Studio? When will it end! January and February can be cold and miserable here in the UK, so its a great time to inject some colour and style into your space ready for Spring. You may already be a fan of The Original Scalloped MDF Edges designed and created by Camilla in early 2020 but if you are just discovering us, this Blog post is an introduction on how and where to use them..

What is MDF Scalloped Edged Trim
Our handmade scalloped trim is crafted from high-quality moisture resistant MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) in either a 6 mm or 9 mm thickness (depending on your projects needs). Our gorgeous Wiltshire workshop creates our handmade moldings, just under 1 meter in length for ease of postage and Camilla has designed it so that each length repeats perfectly from one length to the next allowing you, the user to cut to the exact measurement your project needs.
Our distinctive decorative Scalloped Edge is lightweight and super easy-to-work-with. The wood trim edging is light enough to glue to perfectly flat surfaces using any high street 'Wood Glue' and if your surface is a little uneven, a couple of small nails in combination with the wood glue will be all it takes to provide you with the perfect finishing touch to a room or piece of furniture! .
Our Scalloped Moldings unique design complements both traditional and modern spaces, and they are very easily painted or stained to match your existing décor or proposed scheme.
Transforming Spaces
Our customers are transforming their spaces with the help of our Scalloped MDF Edges. These versatile pieces can be used in a variety of ways to add depth, texture, and visual interest to any project. From traditional to modern designs, our moulding can complement any style.

Meet our Collection
Willa
Is our largest MDF Scalloped Edge and is most often used to hide things or fill a void! Camilla created it to act as an off the shelf Curtain Pelmet, its deep enough to hide a roller blind in recess. Its also great to conceal strip lighting. Its popular in nursery bedrooms too as chunky visually playful architrave detail either around the top of a room at the ceiling or halfway up the wall as a dado rail or dado molding.
Coco, Wave, Miami, Ziggy, India, Cedric, Kate and all the non - 'Mini's'
Are the medium sized trims Camilla created as the perfect size for scalloped architraves around the top of a room, or scalloped moldings around door frames. They are just large enough to have presence, but not so big that they take over. If you don't want your look to be overly fussy, these are your heros. They are also fabulous on shelf edging as long as your shelves are more than 30 cm apart. Otherwise you will need the Minis..
Louli, and all the Mini's
Are the smallest of our collection. They were designed to be the perfect depth for shelving and are also ideal for joinery. They are extremely popular by our clients in creating scalloped detailing in wardrobes (opt for the 6 mm). They also work perfectly around doors as scalloped molding or as architrave they are just a busier detail as you have 20 scallops to a est. 1 m length where Coco has 10.
All our MDF Scalloped Edges are designed so that they will cover completely the edge of a shelf up to 30 mm thick.
